Our closing keynote is shaping up to be a pivotal conversation, because the world is changing and you are forging that change. We’re beyond pleased to tell you that Alisa Volkman, co-founder of Babble.com and Catherine Connors, Director of Community and Social Good at Babble.com, Author of Her Bad Mother and all-round awesomesauce will be joined by Brooke Chaffin from Disney Interactive Media Group to discuss the changing media landscape – and how what you do is effecting that very change.
Once upon a time, a place in traditional media – a spot on television, a bit on radio, some columns in a magazine or in newsprint – was the summit of creative and artistic ambition. For women in particular – who have historically not had the same kind of access to means of broadcast communication as have men – success as a writer, photographer, artist, businessperson, and storyteller has long been pinned in at least some part to access to and/or attention from these established channels of communication.
But times have changed, and women are no longer on the sidelines of the culture. They’re at its center, courted and engaged by the powerhouse players of old media. And this is in large part due to the transformation of media that has been driven substantially by the power of women’s storytelling. That power is such that it continues to change the shape of media, to the extent that a place in ‘old media’ is no longer the summit of creative achievement but rather a step along the way.
Please join us as Alisa Volkman and Catherine Connors from Babble and Brooke Chaffin from Disney Interactive Media Group will talk about the reasons why YOU are the driving force of new media and the new storytelling revolution, how you can best position yourself to take advantage of that, and how doing so may, in fact, change the world. It’s going to be lively – no chairs on a stage but rather a dynamic, energy-driven discussion. Smart women showing smart attendees why your work is so important. We can’t wait to give you a pat on the back and maybe a kick in the pants. See you soon!
